Christmas 2016

Postby Geoff » 23 Dec 2016, 00:45

Ladies and Gents,
Christmas is fast approaching and I've been browsing through the usual Christmas (music) Fare. A favourite for me is Adam's 'O Holy Night' and I suspect it is a favourite for many more. There are so many versions of this popular piece that we are spoiled for choice. Peter Lindroos appeals to me as does George Thill. I could go on and on. The incomparable Jussi Bjorling who for me was King. However, I then listened to Enrico Caruso, who recorded in the stone age of recording which clearly shows. He sings it in French; it's probably not his best recording but what a unique and unsurpassable tenor he was. If I had to pick three, they would be Caruso, Bjorling and Erland Hagegard.
Best wishes for Christmas and the New year to everyone.
Geoff.
