Today is the birthday of tenor Joseph Calleja, the latest star in an illustrious line of successful tenors from the small island of Malta. You might not recognize Kirkop by his full name...he was billed usually as just Oreste.

I have only heard about Joseph Calleja. Were the others tenors really that famous? I would know a tenor like Merli, but not Icilio Calleja.

Well for a start, happy birthday Joseph. I think that the best is yet to come.
