Special: 4 tenors from Malta

Today is the birthday of tenor Joseph Calleja, the latest star in an illustrious line of successful tenors from the small island of Malta. In celebration of him and those before him, we present a special on tenors from Malta this month. Four tenors are featured, listed in the link below in order of birth date.

I have never heard of Kirkop or the "other" Calleja! Thanks for posting this!
Re: Special: 4 tenors from Malta
You might not recognize Kirkop by his full name...he was billed usually as just Oreste.

I have only heard about Joseph Calleja. Were the others tenors really that famous? I would know a tenor like Merli, but not Icilio Calleja.

Well for a start, happy birthday Joseph. I think that the best is yet to come.
I well remember Oreste Kirkop singing Rigoletto at Covent Garden. He was bloody good. Who can blame him for going to Hollywood and making a pile of money ? It's the name of the game when all is said and done. Here he is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ryu9piTyafg
